Old World
Renaissance
Designing
one-of-a-kind homes has been our practice since 1990.
Designing and building a one-of-a-kind kitchen was a new
experience. After interviewing many custom cabinet shops, we
decided that the only way we could get the look we wanted was
to do the work ourselves. As a result, all of the case goods
for this home were designed, built and installed on-site.
The layout was
simple, with a very large island centered in the space. The
artistry came from the hand-applied glaze that was hand-applied to
the painted cabinets. The use of hand-carved medallions and
corbels added to the Old World craftsman effect. All
appliances were hidden within the cabinetry, including two
Bosch dishwashers, a full Sub Zero® refrigerator and freezer,
two 30” Dacor ovens and a microwave.
The use of two
types of granite, honed and standard, allowed the main area to
have an easy-use finish and gave the island a more rustic
feel. The cherry wood floors mixed with the hand-hewn beams
in the ceiling completed the Rustic charm of kitchens of the
past mixed with the technology of today. Ultimately, the
overall feel is warm and family friendly. |
